Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we want to create an area that our residents are proud to live in. Which is why we’re involving our communities from the start. To continuously improve, we must always assess how we’re doing. This means handling constant customer information to ensure we’re always getting better.  You will be key in making sure that we have effective data management and governance strategies in place to protect our residents and the department.

As a Data Governance Co-ordinator, you’ll make sure the Housing Management department complies with all Data Protection legislation. You’ll also guarantee GDPR is implemented across all housing services. In fact, you’ll become the Data Protection, Subject Access, and Freedom of Information expert. This will see you work with our corporate partners on information governance and management, including the Council’s Data Protection Officer. Together, you’ll continuously monitor and fill in the gaps between existing systems and the latest legislation.

To join us, you’ll need relevant public sector data protection experience. You will have managed data incidents and breaches and this expertise will allow you to make sound judgments and have confidence in your decisions. Furthermore, you’re a leader by example, constantly inspiring self-improvement and the development of the others. You’ll also need excellent communication skills in order to work with internal and external people at all levels. Due to the nature of the role, we’ll expect you to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion, handling information with tact and understanding.
